The latest figures from our six data pages, each counted from an official register or portal and dated. In Greece, 64.0 GW of solar PV, wind and renewable stations with storage are still at the first licensing stage; in Italy, 1,521 national environmental impact assessments of PNIEC-PNRR projects are still open; in Switzerland, large solar plants with a binding approval cover 5.8% of the Solarexpress's 2 TWh. Every figure links to the page with the full tables, the method and the source.
ΡΑΑΕΥ's register records 3,992 solar PV, wind and renewable stations with integrated storage, with 82.0 GW of capacity. 64.0 GW (78.1%) are still at the first stage, with a Producer Certificate or production licence; 9.2 GW hold an Installation Licence and 8.8 GW an Operation Licence. ΡΑΑΕΥ's monthly register of revoked and lapsed licences (September 2026 edition) lists 1,350 licences and certificates, 23.6 GW, revoked, expired or ceased by decisions dated 2024 or later. The renewables licensing page breaks them down by technology, Region and year.
In ΡΑΑΕΥ's register, 1,580 electricity storage stations with a combined injection power of 65.3 GW hold a storage licence. On the transmission system, however, only 42 stations, 1.6 GW, had a connection offer or were operating, according to ΑΔΜΗΕ's register (edition: April 2026). The storage pipeline page breaks the figures down by stage, Region and register edition.
Since Standard Environmental Commitments (ΠΠΔ) for batteries were published on 10 October 2024, Greek Regions have issued 587 decisions including standalone storage stations under them, for 14.9 GW of injection power where the decision's subject states it. The environmental approvals page counts them by month and Region, from the decisions published on Diavgeia.
At 30 September 2026, connection requests to Italy's transmission grid handled by Terna came to 309.6 GW for renewable plants, 285.6 GW for storage and 121.7 GW for consumers, of which 109.0 GW were data centres. The Terna connection requests page gives them by stage, source and region.
The environmental assessment portal of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) shows 1,521 national procedures still open for PNIEC-PNRR projects: 1,333 environmental impact assessments (VIA) and 188 single environmental measures (PUA). Half of them started more than 3.0 years ago, and 212 are at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The VIA page has them by type of work, stage, region and year.
The Swiss Federal Office of Energy lists 29 large solar projects under art. 71a of the Energy Act (the Solarexpress), 28 of them in the procedure or in operation, designed for 645.8 GWh a year. Of these, 7 have a legally binding approval or are already running, with 115.6 GWh a year: 5.8% of the 2 TWh up to which the article applies. The Solarexpress page follows them by stage, canton and quarter.
The figures on this page describe the market. For your own projects, MitOS keeps each plant's stage together with the deadlines and guarantees that come with it. A rolling 90-day timeline and a live flag feed surface what is due and what is at risk before it costs you the project.
