Energy storage in Greece: the licensing pipeline in numbers

In ΡΑΑΕΥ's register, 1,580 electricity storage stations with a combined injection power of 65.3 GW hold a storage licence. On the transmission system, however, only 42 stations, 1.6 GW, had a connection offer or were operating, according to ΑΔΜΗΕ's register (edition: April 2026).

How many storage stations are at each stage

The table follows a station from the storage licence to connection. Each figure comes from a different official file with its own date, so the date is given beside every row.

The gap between the rows is the finding. A storage licence does not give a place on the grid: storage obtains a Final Connection Offer on separate tracks with their own capacity caps, as the guide to the priority groups explains.

Batteries and pumped storage

Most stations in the register are batteries: 1,473 stations, 49.8 GW. Pumped storage counts fewer stations, 123, but larger ones, with 16.7 GW in total. These figures cover every storage station in the register, whatever its stage.

How many stations have a connection offer from ΑΔΜΗΕ

ΑΔΜΗΕ publishes, twice a year, a register of the storage stations that have a connection offer or operate on the transmission system. The editions since May 2024 show the trend:
